Laura Cotton, Managing Director & Principal Consultant
In her small frame, Laura Cotton packs in more than 10 years of experience with public relations, modern manners training, and facilitating change. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and a minor in Business Management from Brigham Young University (Provo, Utah, USA), Laura managed corporate communications, employee relations, crisis communications and labour union communication for Delta Air Lines’ regional carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) in Atlanta, Ga., USA.
After six years with ASA, Laura moved to the Caribbean as Director of Corporate Communications for Caribbean Airlines Services, Inc. – the umbrella company for Caribbean Sun Airlines (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Caribbean Star Airlines (Antigua & Barbuda, West Indies). In this role, Laura directed all communication for the sale of Caribbean Sun and for one of the biggest business collaborations in Caribbean history with the LIAT and Caribbean Star merger and asset sale. She eventually was appointed as Director of Caribbean Star and managed all aspects of the airline’s ultimate closure.
After the airlines’ closures, Laura formed Pearl Strategies, LLC. She also trained with the Emily Post Institute – the foremost etiquette authority in the United States since 1922 – as certified business etiquette trainer.
Laura project portfolio includes crisis communications planning, sponsorship management and corporate communication strategies for Caribbean Airlines (Trinidad), “Working with VIPs” training for MWI Management (Trinidad), management consulting for Antilia (Trinidad & New York City), modern manners training with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Florida, USA & Antigua), personal image consulting for Caribbean government leaders, and personal brand coaching for multiple Trinidadian entrepreneurs.
Known for her contagious energy and sincere interest in her clients, Laura’s passion for public relations, personal image, and social manners is unmistakable. So is her talent for teaching, which extends to the dance floor with more than 10 years of swing dance instruction, and to the keyboard with piano lessons.
